We have a new yarn to share with you: Alma.
As we started to work on the new yarn, we knew we wanted to come up with a Fingering weight merino superwash, quite basic, that would be the perfect canvas to play with color and get amazing effects.
Fingering is so popular right now, its generous yardage (400 to 600 meters) makes it perfect for shawls, socks, accessories and even sweaters, without demanding too much knitting time.
When developing Alma, we looked for the softest merino superwash and spun a single ply 500 meters per 100 grs yarn (we love roving yarns, with their simple, primary, artisanal look, they are just perfect for Manos). Alma is very light and lofty, with lots of body and volume.
To design the color card, we worked in two different groups, one of semi solid bases, and one of rich multicolor effects. So looking for the perfect combination for color work can be fun and easy. As all our yarns, Alma is hand dyed in Manos cooperatives in Uruguay's coutryside, by rural women. It is a yarn that's beautiful, ethical and sustainable.
Alma means soul in Spanish, its pure and tender nature brings to mind all things good. We are so happy with it and hope you will try and enjoy it too!
